Many of the smoking shelters and designated smoking areas at the Auburn Hills Complex will be repositioned away from the building during the months of October, November and December.
The moves are a part of an effort to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for the Auburn Hills Complex. The certification is issued by the U.S. Green Building Council and represents a significant step in being green.
One prerequisite to obtain LEED certification is the control of secondhand tobacco smoke with the specific requirement to “locate any exterior designated smoking areas at least 25 feet away from building entries, outdoor air intakes and operable windows.”
Advisories will be posted before the relocation of each shelter.
