This year’s United Way campaign kicked off in Tech Plaza at Chrysler headquarters with fund-raisers, including a bake sale and three teams competing to build futuristic vehicles. “Our goal today is to raise awareness for the United Way, and to continue to encourage community involvement,” Chrysler Chairman and CEO Bob Nardelli said. “Many of our neighbors and friends are going through some pretty difficult times, so there never was a better time … to increase the level of awareness. What we’re really looking for this year is increased participation. We want to make sure that everybody gets a chance to make an informed decision about helping one another, and reaching out and extending the goodwill that Chrysler LLC is known for.”
